Ok, so here are the stats on my friends custom build:
Asus a7n8x Dlx
AMD barton 2500+
Asus nVidia GF4 ti4200
(x2)corsair valueram pc2700 256mb
maxtor 40gb 7200 8mb
DVD drive
enermax ps (forgot the wattage)
Ok, this is a really wierd problem that we have been working on for a long time, so stay with me here.
he started to have problems with his comp all of sudden, almost as if it were deteriorating. it was very odd, different colored blocks were seen on any monitor used, we couldnt figure out why. they were kind of random, different colors, but pretty hefty in siize.
anyways, so we stuck my other friend's radeon 9000 pro in his comp and the problem vanished. so we were like, damn so its his graphics card. which would be the logical conclusion right?
so we rma'd the graphics card with asus, and a card came back, dont know if it was the same/refurb/new but the point was that the problem wasnt there anymore. however, after some time, the problem came back, making it very irritating to say the least.
anyways, so we thought that maybe the graphics card was being hurt by something else in the computer. we knew that the graphics card needed to be rmaed, but we decided that the mobo should also be rma'd because that would be the most likely thing that could be hurting the graphics card.
we got them both back and the problem was gome, but then, yea you guessed it, after some time our friend the f***ed up graphics were back...
so we rmaed the graphics card AGAIN along with the mobo and he just recieved the new parts back. however, we havent tried them yet. our thought wer that the power supply may be spiking or somehow damaging the graphics card, so hes borrowing a new enermax that i had lying around.
So, now he has an rmaed mobo, graphics card, different ps, but hasent turned it on yet.
he wants to rma the ram and the processor now....can anyone think of what our problem may be, or any suggestions as to what we could to to figure it out?? is it even possible that the ram or cpu could hurt the graphics card?? i would think its possible, but HIGHLY unlikely...
Thanks a ton for your input guys(and girls) we really appreciate it!
