Confused with linux install

So I have a 256gb Samsung 830 with windows8. I also have a 1tb hard drive non ssd which I use to install games and files.

I put in a 3rd hard drive 128gb crucial m4 ssd. I installed linux mint on the 128gb drive. It was empty. I also installed the bootloader on the crucial drive. Now when I reboot the pc and have the hard drive that has windows 8 installed it says missing operating system. Why? I didn't install grub on this ssd.

I made a bootable usb for windows 8 in linux and can boot from it. I tried to repair the mbr but I still get the same error. Any ideas ?

Edit: in linux I see all my hard drives. I can go into the 256gb ssd and see that I have all my windows files there. Why can't I boot to it even if I tried fixing the mbr?

This is just strange. I'm about to just reinstall win 8 anyway since all my needed files are on the data 1tb drive.

Never ran into this issue even when I had linux and windows on one drive instead of two. All I would need to do was fix mbr after deleting linux partition and it would work. No clue what went on here.
