confused on CPU, need help please!

hey guys, I am building a gaming machine and would like to use the A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard which is 939. I am so confused on which cpu to get. I read somewhere not to get opteron for gaming to get a fx-55 or 57. I also like the 4400+ cpu. I am going dual core for sure, just not sure which cpu is right for me. I am going liquid cooling and I want to be able to overclock to near 3 ghz. Can anyone explain or point me to some readings that show the differences on these cpu's? Also, I noticed some of the opterons are socket 940, does that mean it wont fit this board? thanks alot guys!
 
There are some socket 939 operterons, they will work with the board, socket 940 opterons will not. THe opterons are supposedly overclocking better, so I'd go with an opteron 170(939 dual core 2ghz 1mb cache) since you are overclocking. Of course even with liquid cooling, there are no gurantees you'll get 3ghz, but the opty has a slightly better chance. The bigger question for gaming is what video card you are getting. I doubt you'll be running at 800x600, or 1024x768, so you won't really be cpu limited anyway, unless you got something like an old P3.
