confused... my date randomly resetting?

Sometimes (not every time) when I reboot or turn on my PC the date in Windows is resetting to 1980 and I need to reset it. I first figured it was just the battery for my mother board, but now I'm not sure because it doesn't happen every time. For example, I just turned on my PC this morning after being off all night and the date did not reset. Other times it will reset after just doing a simple reboot. (would the battery come into play if the power were not turned off?)

Also, it's only the date. My bios is not resetting. Am I wrong in thinking if it were the battery bios would reset as well?

I had a battery that tested at 1.492 (should be 3.0), and the only thing that happened is if I unplugged powersupply, had to reset all bios parameters.

Why dont you take it out with computer running and test it with a voltmeter and find out.
 
I agree with NutBucket. Just replace the battery. It is cheap and easy fix most of the time for this. ECS has the unfortunate rep for sending out inferior quality batteries with their boards anyway so chances are you'd have to do it sooner or later. And it just might solve your problems too.😉
 
ok thanks. I'll replace it then. two more questions. Are the batteries standard or will I need a specific one/model for this board? and do I just pull the old one out and put the new one in while the system's off/unplugged?
