My viewsonic 3250w can do 1080i when connected to the YPbPr input. But when I connect to the YCbCr input, it only does standard 480i resolution. It seems that this is a standard feature of the TV according to Viewsonic. In that case, whats the difference between composite which can also output at 480i resolution

As I don't have a Full HDTV yet, I can't help you much...but I can tell you something....forget about the composite input...the video quality it offers is the poorest, the worst of all...(composite<S-Video<component ? HDMI) so don't use it please...use the video component inputs or a digital HDMI input...

EDIT: OK, I found some info that states only one of the component inputs is HD capable, or even 480p for that matter. The 1 labeled YCbCr is likely mislabeled, as I read that is fairly common for manufacturers to do that, and YCbCr is digital and output over a digital link like FireWire or SDI.

connecting the wii. It can only do upto 480p on component and 480i on composite. it seems quality is much better using 480p.

Edited my reply, since I found info that stated there were 2 component connections but that only 1 was for HD and 480p. BTW, the Wii doesn't do HD res, so 480p is what you want.

yes I want 480p but my other component which can do HD is taken up by my 360. SO only option is to keep swapping the cables each time, or get a vga cable for the 360 and hook it through that leaving the component to the wii.
