Confused about what ram for a particular motherboard.

I may be getting this board soon.
It uses DDR2, but I don't wish to get incompatible ram. Here they showed tested memory, memory features, etc. Here they showed 3rd party tested memory. This is the part that confuses me. While they do show manufacturers such as Kingston & Crucial, they also show memory chip makers such as Samsung, Hynix & Micron.
Could I get some suggestions/recomendations for a reasonably priced, good quality memory that would be compatible for this board?
Also, on my current system I have 2 gigs of ram. My peak memory usage has been 812608K. Should I stick w/2 gigs for the new system or could I drop down to 1 gig & be able to run Vista Ultimate?

it goes like this: Samsung Hynix and Micron make the actuall memory chips. Kingston & Crucial make the PCB for the RAM stick. they supply the controllers. BTW, Corsair is also micron. they make everything. unless you plan on overclocking, just get some cheap value ram from Crucial or corsair. should be fine.

There are some mis- information there... but Just from the Chip Fab's and Ownership Of Retail Partners.

Samsung is OEM and Produces Chips, and Modules as Well... they also sell their chips to other Module Fab Partners.

Kingston is a Module Fab Partner and Purchases Chips and Fabs Modules.

Micron is OEM and Produces chips, and Modules Thru Their Module Fab. Crucial Technologies. and sells chips to Module Fab. Partners.

ok your royal highness. i'm srry. i'm not so bored that i spend 30 minutes researching my posts. i have kingston memory with hynix and micron chips. and as far as i know, hynix does not make its own memory.

Ok,......
So you are looking for DDR2.
Q: What CPU are you getting. Are you going to OC...Are on a budget?
Don't get too into Ic's & Pcb's.

Yes, I'm looking for DDR2
I'm getting the E6300. The motherboard i'm getting as part of the bundle doesn't have overclocking capabilities, but that doesn't mean I won't get a different motherboard down the road.
I'm somewhat on a budget, depending on how easily I can sell my present components & what I get out of them.

Interesting. I guess they have already been there. I opened up my HP dv1000 laptop with 1 GB - it has two 512 SODIMMs branded "Infineon." They have been good performers.

This is highly recommended- .Skill DDR2 6400 HZ 2x1GB (Micron D9xxx)

This ram has produced some outstanding numbers , this is the best you could buy.
There are many other that could be considered.

That's a little steep for me.
Also, I don't know if I should stick w/2 gigs or drop down to 2-512 sticks.
I'll be running Vista & am unsure if that'd be enough ram or not.

It def ends a lot on what you do, Games, video & hhotoshop...etc
The beta /RC versions of Vista have been quite heavy on memory, I topped 2gb usage on RC2 X64 while running multiple task.
Maybe the retail version will be a bit lighter on ram.
If you do normal stuff 1Gb Will be fine.
