Confused about Vertex2s...

I'm considering an SSD for my future personal satisfaction, but I'm confused about OCZs juicy offerings. Here are two I'm having a little difficulty determining which is better:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-590-_-Product

Apart from the size, 2.5" vs 3.5", both appear to be the same sort of sexy. There's also the "E" letter in the 2.5", which from what I understand stands for a formerly 100GB drive "extended" to 120GB. Is that right? Are there performance differences between them, if any? Or can both drives satisfy me amply?

Also, there's this drive:

A 100GB drive that costs more than the 120GB drives... why? Does it perform better? Maybe some special sauce somewhere in there?

Careful, or someone will quote you out of context. ():)

I think you are over-thinking your purchasing decision. Generally speaking, all drives which use the same controller (with same number of channels enabled) will perform "the same."

Sure, you can have endless arguments over "oh but the Vertex 2 is rated for 275MB writes while the Agility 2 is rated for 270MB writes" or any other benefit/detriment, real or imagined.

Once you sit down at your computer and use it, you will not notice a performance difference between different drives using the same controller (again, with same number of channels enabled) unless you look through your side window, or you benchmark (and even then, maybe not).

I think OCZ having Vertex and Agility series originates from them capitalizing on enthusiasts who try to seek out "the best" by looking at which NAND chips are in a drive. The Vertex traditionally has gotten guaranteed model NAND chips while the Agility gets whatever OCZ can get for cheap. Basically... marketing.

Those two 120GB drives are the same, only one is in a 3.5" shell and the other is in a 2.5" shell. The 100GB is also the same drive but with more allocated spare area. I recommend you get one of the 120GB drives

Well it was more of a query of which of the three had some hidden & undisclosed handicap I did not know about preventing it from giving me my climactic moment. I'm truly glad to hear none have any sort of inadequacies! Good stuff guys, thanks much for your assistance. I'm going to keep her warm & juiced up all night long with my play as soon as I get my hands on her.
