Confused about USB cable sizes (A/B/M/F/mini/extention etc)

I have an Espn C84 printer coming in the mail, and I want to order a USB cable for it. The manual is dummied down and doesn't say what type of USB plug it takes, it just says "square". There are dozens of different combinations of USB cables out there, what kind do I need to hook up a printer to a standard PC USB port? My best guess so far would be a male A to a standard (not mini) male B? This is a pic of that type: http://pcpartusa.com/2003/cables/6ftUSB/ab.jpg

Why don't you grab the manual online (I'm sure they have PDFs on their site). Email Epson or call 1-800-HLP-EPSN .

I got the PDF's, but the manul is extremely dummy'd down, and just says 'the square plug', which could be usb B mini or regular, and M or F. I could give them a call, but in my past experience the customer service people only read out of the manual and don't even know what USB is. I'll give it a shot, im hoping someone here has one of these printers on their desk :)

You need a usb a to b cable... as opposed to ordering a cable, I suggest you go into a Sams club, BJ's, Costco, Big lots, etc where you can get the cables for under $5, and they wil say on them "for connecting Printers, scanners, etc to PCs"

UGH you didn't look very hard.

Go here:
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Doc&oid=23953&prodoid=36033903&category=Products&menuSpec=7

Select "Reference Guide". Then select "System Requirements". Read:
USB connection: a computer with preinstalled Windows XP, Me, 2000, or 98, and a Windows-compliant USB port and shielded USB "AB" cable. Using an improperly shielded USB cable may cause the printer to malfunction.
Doesn't get much more straight forward then that.
