Ok i was all prepared to buy a cheap SiS 645 DX based chipset, but now there are all these new chipsets on the market now. What is the best performing Intel DDR chipset that exists? What is the most future proof DDR chipset i can get? I am not talking about Rambus now, so no Rambus Mobos.

All the new P4 DDR333 solutions, Intel 845G w/DDR333, VIA P4X333 and SIS 645DX are all very close performance-wise. Many people like to go the safe route, Intel chipset with Intel processor, even though the other chipsets actually have more features (P4X333) and are cheaper. As for future-proof, if you're someone who likes to have the latest new features, then no motherboard is ever going to be future-proof for long. I know that every time I've ever upgraded my processor, I've gotten a new motherboard to go along with it because there was some new feature that I wanted or that was required.
