I can't decided between the Cambridge 5.1 2200 speakers or a pair of Altec Lansing. I want at least 4 spekaer surround sound and a good loud, clear subwoofer. What do you recommend. There is no I am paying over 150 U.S. dollars for speakers. I can;t get thos other boston acoustics or whatever, it is ebtween Cambridge and Altec Lansing. Are the Cambridge fps 2000 better than the Cambridge 5.1 2200? Pls help me decide on sopme good speakers. Thx.

ONE LAST THING, FUC* KLIPSCH, they are way too expensive :)

I never heard a sound from Altec Lansing. But the Cambridge Soundworks work very nice here for me. And my cousin has a the 5.1 2500, its excellent.
The 5.1 2200 is better than the FPS 2000.

Good luck!

Well, I'm speaking from the low end of things, which may or may not be helpful. I have the Cambridge Soundworks 3 piece at home, and the Altec ACS-44 (3 piece as well) in my office.. And the Altecs BLOW AWAY the Cambridge in every way. Clarity is great. Higher highs, lower lows. MUCH more separation between them. The sub on the altecs seems to crossover much more cleanly, as it ONLY puts out bass, whereas the Cambridge sub just seems to try to play everything, but only the bass makes it out very loudly. Definitely very muddy. No competition. But like I said, that may or may not hold true once you get into the higher-end stuff from both companies.

P.S.-- Forgot to add... The Altec satellites seem to be MUCH more solidly built. The Cambridge sats are tiny little things that are made of light, flimsy plastic. They seem prone to crack just from existence. --But the Altecs are very nice and solid. Weighty, and feel like they could withstand quite a bit of abuse.
