Confused about SLi with dual PCI 16x

Been reading about full speed PCI / SLi boards and am a bit confused.

I understand that all SLi boards do PCI express 16x with one card.

I understand that most do SLi with both PCI doing 8x.

I read the article (on AT) that said some new boards were coming out that support SLi at full 16x, but it is an older article. The article mentioned that the boards were due out around now.

Anyone have recommendations on those boards? What should I look for to ensure SLi at 16x?
