I currently have a EpoxMVP3G2 motherboard w/ k6-3 400 and 2-64 meg dims (Cas2). I am reconstructing an old computer for my son and need to know the following:

Assuming I put my memory in his computer abd put the new RAM in my system. Should I?

1) Buy PC133 128 Dimm or PC100
2) Cas2 or Cas3?
3) Can I run a PC100 64meg Dimm and a PC133 Dimm in the same system?

Thanks for any help.

PS. Understand that my son is 2 years old, so he doesnt really need all that memory to run kid programs.

Buy PC-133, it will be usable longer for future upgrades... and they are about the same price..

Cas 2 is nice for future upgrade..if going into a SS7 system now, a CAS 3 Pc-133 will most likely run at CAS 2 for a FSB 100 setting anyway

I wouldn't mix the memory's, there's no need too anyway, 128Mb is excellent for just about all applications, and the prices are so cheap now... 128MB PC133 CAS 3 = ~ $35, 128 MB PC133 CAS 2 = ~ $50, (plus shipping).. pricewatch.com

You can mix memory, provided what you have will run at the speed you need it to. Personally, I have a grab-bag of sticks in my system:
PC66 32 meg generic
PC100 64 meg Kingston Valueram
PC133 64 meg generic

And all 3 are running at 100 CAS3 with no problems. My POS mobo "suggests" CAS 3 if I set it to CAS 2, but I haven't the desire to do any testing with the two settings, as far as stability is concerned.
Granted, mixing memory probably isn't the greatest thing when you're trying to overclock to some insane speed, but when its for use at a "normal" speed, then it should be just fine.
