I recently purchased an additional m2 ssd to put in my laptop (it can take up to four). The problem is, the MB connector has the notch on the right, and the SSD has the notch on the left (when the SSD is facing label up).

I tried installing the ssd label down, but the notch and groove didn't quite line up properly.

Anyone know what's going on? Did I buy the wrong SSD?

There are two different types of M.2 SSDs, in fact three now I you include NVMe.

You have AHCI/SATA type, and you have PCIe type.

Most desktop motherboards with an onboard M.2 slot is compatible with both types. This may not be the case with a laptop.

You will need to check in your manual to find which type or types your laptop supports.
