Confused about hooking up a dvd player to my computer..have a couple Q's

I am looking to get an upconveting 1080p dvd player that uses HDMI to hook up to my computer and it's monitor since normal dvd's look like crap on my 1080p monitor. I have a BenQ G2400W 24" LCD with an open HDMI input I want to use since my comp is using the DVI.

I have a couple questions:

1) How can I use my computer speakers with the HDMI input rather then the monitor speakers? Do I need an rca adapter such as this http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...ormat=2&style= or will my pc automatically use it's speakers?

2) I currently use Catalyst Media Center to watch tv, listen to the radio, and watch dvd's b/c that is the software that came with my ATI VisionTech HD 650 pci tuner card. I also have WinDVD that I can use...Will I still use this software with the dvd player or is it not necessary?

thanks
