Confused about CoolerMaster DP5-6I11A interface

Hi --

I've got one of these heatsink/fan assemblies and, even after reading the information on the coolermaster website I'm a bit confused about the interface material.

Am I right in thinking that the pink plastic square *is* the interface material, rather than a plastic sheet I need to remove to uncover the interface?

Hope someone can help.

I'm almost certain that the pink strip needs to be removed. I have a coolermaster (don't know the model) and that's what I had to do...should reveal a thick, white pasty goop underneath. If the pink thing is clear, shiny plastic, it is almost certain that the chewey, center is what you're after, not the wrapper.

Others are going to say it, so I will first: you may consider using a different thermal paste like Arctic Silver II or III and use that instead of the factory paste.

Mmm, just like a woman....

Umm, but yeah. You'll wanna take anything shiny off. It's a protective tape for the sweet, sweet, sensual thermal interface beneath...

Sorry. 😀

Thanks for your replies...

The problem is that one of the pictures on the coolermaster web site seems to imply that the "interface material" *is* pink, and hence npthing needs to be removed.

Another implies that the pink stuff is a sheet that *does* need to be removed. Sigh...

ps. I've heard that the interface material isn't brilliant, but I'm only using a 950Mhz Duron, without overclocking, so it'll suffice for now I think?

IanWorthington: basilisk420 is correct in everything said.

And the Coolermaster should be fine for the Duron 950 for a long time.
