Confused about AHCI and RAID

I just recently purchased an SSD. I understand you are supposed to choose AHCI mode but I also have RAID setup from my old PC that I would like to install onto my new rig. I read that RAID has AHCI setup already. Should I use RAID or AHCI when I choose which system?

I'm running an Asus P8P67 Deluxe, 2600K, 8GB PC1600, Win7, Corsair F120, 2x 1.5TB Seagates.

The P8P67 Deluxe has Intel RST and a separate Marvel RAID controller. Right now I have the RAID on the separate RAID controller and the SSD on AHCI but in the future when there are more options for SATA 6Gb, I may want to take back the ports the SSD is on and go RAID.

Thanks.

Intel ICH = RAID drives are not AHCI but single drives are AHCI
ACHI = no raid drives
IDE = basic mode.

you can mix and match but remember that if the drive becomes marked as a raid (do not ghost a raid to an ssd - trust me it will ghost it as a raid member).

How do you get Intel ICH? I have a new Sandy Bridge build and I don't see ICH anywhere. There's something called Intel RST loaded up but it seems to crash often. Right now I'm running my SSD on AHCI on a Sata 6 port and am using a Marvell RAID controller on a SATA 3 port. My MB is an Asus P8P67 Deluxe.
