*Confused* 256MB Stick working on a BX chipset board?

I've got a stick of crucial PC100 memory 256MB unbuffered memory that happens to work on boards that have 168PIN SDRAM. Now normally the Intel 440LX/BX chipset supports 128MB DIMMS and I've confirmed this with some Corsair 256MB PC133 memory. But when I stick in the 256MB Crucial stick, it works perfectly fine and is detected properly. Now I'm wondering, why is it that this crucial stick works and the corsair module doesn't?
 
Incase you guys are wondering, here are the model numbers:
CT32M64S4D8E 256MB, 168-pin DIMM (Crucial Module)
VS256MB133A (Corsair Module)

Is there a specific reason why the Crucial module works? If other modules like the crucial one works, which one? How do I know what to look for in modules to make sure it works?
 
High density will be single sided for a 256mb stick. Lower density chips force them to use both sides of the pcb. I had that problem when upgrading ram on an old machine and had to return it in the end.
