Confuse about AGP Slot

All AGP slots pretty much look like that. 🙂

What is your motherboard's model number? Also, what CPU and RAM do you have now?

As long as you get an AGP card (not pci express), it will work in your slot, AGP is AGP, no different flavors to it. Be careful about spending that much $ on an AGP card since we're seeing the end of the AGP life cycle.

As MDE asked, post your specs and you'll get some more definitive advice from the folks here.

I don't know about my motherboard model number are. I do know that i currently have a AMD Barton 3000+ and 512 mb of ram.

So the radeon x800 pro does fit into my AGP slot?
I was confuse becuase of the 4x and 8x
Rib i would switch to pci-e, but my motherboard don't have a pci-e slot.

thanks

You most likely can get the Radeon X800 Pro and it should work. I forgot to ask before, what brand and wattage power supply do you have? High end video cards require quite a bit of power.

Echo, this is the app I use to check up on all my specs (I always forget them). It's a small download - try it and it will give you all you need to know about your system.

I don't think it gives you specs on your power supply though. You'll have to open your case and read the plate/sticker on your psu. MDE is right, though, you'll want something good (with some spare connections) to get the vid card you're looking at.

Using the software RibSpreader provided i find out that i have AGP 2.0. Will that be able to use eVGA e-GeForce 6800 GT? Just want to make sure becuase on this site it say System Requirements: AGP 3.0 Compliant.

I want to make sure both eVGA e-GeForce 6800 GT and radeon x800 pro works with my AGP 2.0 slot than decide witch one to get 😀.

Nevermind. That AGP slot in the photo is a "universal" slot, capable of 1.5V and 3.3V signalling for 1x/2x/4x speeds. Now with AGP 8x graphics cards all supporting 4x/1.5V as well (they HAVE to, the AGP standard requires that), you're good to go, as far as electrical compatibility goes.

wow that was a good explanation thanks. Now i can finally go buy a video card and know it'll work with my computer.

This forums rox 😀
