I'm trying to attach my roommate's laptop to the wireless network in our apartment but the thing will NOT make a connection. (It also doesn't help that we have a neighbor running a different wireless network so close to ours, but I digress.) He keeps getting an error that "a network cable is unplugged." Of course, it IS unplugged, because we are trying to get it to connect with the wireless card. I've tried disabling it but that doesn't really work either. I have security set up for the laptop's MAC addy but for some reason it won't pick up the DHCP server that gives me and my other roomie (who's laptop is connected and functioning normally) our router IPs. I've tried nearly EVERYTHING and would appreciate some help. Thanks!!!

Make sure you have the MAC address for the Wireless Card typed in correctly in the router/AP's setup. Sounds just like what was happening to me for awhile, then I noticed I had mis-typed the MAC address.

Humor me and tell me where the best place to find the MAC address for the wireless router. I have a MAC addy in there but I believe it may be for the ethernet card rather than the wireless.

click start, click run. type cmd, hit enter. type ipconfig/all and it's the physical address for one of the cards (you'll have to figure out which one).

That's not an issue. I have the MAC addy of the wireless card in the setup already. Still gives me that damn network cable is disconnected sh!t.
