Conflicting XP Installations?

Hi, I have two computers. One of it has a corrupt installation of Windows Xp. One of it I have a brand new 250GB hard drive. I want to install a copy of Win XP Pro on the 250GB, take out the hard drive with the corrupt installation of Windows XP and replace it with the one I installed on the other computer. Is this possible? To install XP on the hard drive on one computer, then transfer the hard drive to the other one? Will it work? THanks

Yeah I've done that before with my 40GB hd. I put it in another computer and it booted up the same. I did have grub as my bootloader, but it should work with windows.

Welcome to the forums!

Swapping hard drives is fine as long as you are not expecting to swap an operating system from one system to another.

Swapping operating system from one system to another does not work due to hardware driver requirements for the motherboard and other components.

It's possable, but you will have to boot from your windows cd and then do a repair installation to have windows install the correct drivers for the current system setup. It's easier to just move the drive then install windows though.
