Using 2 audio cards w/Winamp 3

Running 2k w/sp2 and a PII 450 and Intel chipset (surely NOT my favorite, only a cheap 2nd box).

I have 2 audio cards:
The first is a Winnov Videum AV video capture card with audio.
The 2nd is a Creative SB CT4810.

I added the SB after because the audio from the capture card sucks! It is noisy especially when playing mp3's. They are full of static and hiss where the SB with the stock Windows drivers (I didn't load anything else) is fine! Not that I'm a fan of Creative or especially stock Windows drivers, but that is the case here. The Winnov has the lastest drivers for 2k.

The problem is when I play audio CD's using the SB as the default device in sound & multimedia properties (box checked) I have no level control in Winamp. If I use the capture card I have control. This is only fron CD's.

I hope this is clear. Any ideas?

I have Winamp 2.82 and 2 soundcards. With that, go into winamp preferences, select output plugins, go to winamp waveOut plugin. Set the device to the soundblaster card.

Also, when I close Winamp the CD still plays! There are no processors or applications running in task manager.
Windows CD Player is NOT runner, nor is Media Player.
How can the CD play without a process controlling it??

There are no flying saucers above my house either, I checked!

I uninstalled V3 and installed V2.81 and it fixed the CD playing by itself, but I still have no audio control in Winamp using the secondary device!

Just a comment here.....Winamp 3 is a POS. Version 2 is still the best. Also 3 takes up as much memory now as Windows Media Player 7

I guess V3 has support for video files which would explain the size increase.
It goes from 1.8 to 3.5MB!

I uninstalled the software for the capture card.
rebooted
still no control.
I disabled the card in device manager
rebooted and presto......control.
reabled the card.
rebooted, still ok I believe.
reinstalled the video codecs NOT audio of the capture card,
rebooted,
same thing; lost control of the audio in Winamp when playing CD's!
