Conflict setting up a Game Adapter

I just finished setting up a wireless network in our apartment.
Cable connection.

Now my roommate wants to set up his Xbox so that he can get on Xbox live.
So he bought a wireless game adapter that needs to be configured using my computer ... and then I guess you can just take it downstairs and plug it in and it should work.

But when I try to run the program to configure the adapter, it can't seem to find it.

I'm supposed to plug the adapter into my computers networking port ... which is an onboard port on my ASUS A8V Deluxe board.

The port work ...
The port recognizes that the adapter is connected ... cause it says the Local Area Connection is now connected.
We've tried two different adapters now ...

All the pieces seem to be working ... but the Adapter and my onboard network port refuse to communicate for some reason.

Any ideas?

Btw, I'm no networker ... I just do what I've learned over the years.
