Confirmed: Win2K SP2 helps with VP6 UDMA

I installed the beta of SP2, and now Device Manager shows DMA active for the HD on the built-in IDE. The Sandra speed indicates UDMA/100, even though UDMA is not shown.

Before SP2, Device Manager showed PIO.

So far (1 day...) all is stable.

Cool cool... good confirmation. Not sure if I should go through the trouble of grabbing that off the warez sites. Something like 10-20 files! I have the hotfix and reghack done... getting around 19969 speeds. Still can't break the 20000 barrier, but at least it's better than PIO.

By the way, what kind of speeds are you getting? What HD? What Mobo?

Perhaps a direct link??/ I have just spent an hour looking for an existing download from Googlesearch- tried the Japanese sites, as well as the US and can't find a good one :)

I bet the following:

1) The site will be down by next week.

2) Someone may lose his/her job or be suspended out of the hosting organization.

Beta software comes with a strong license, and I expect MS will enforce it vigorously.

Please, do not bite the hand that feeds you. Email the stuff a-person-at-a-time, do not publish.

Hmmm... you guys don't really need SP2. Just grab the Hotfix from the other thread. My Maxtor ata100, 7200rpm drive got a score of 19969 under Sandra...
