shit, that would really suck not just for WRC but for Subaru as well. Being able to use the WRC heavily in their promotions is a huge asset for them.

[Shudder] They are not thinking the sumo wrestler promotion works better I hope. [/shudder]

They made a name for themselves in WRC but the fact of the matter is the average US consumer could care less. I'd venture to guess that 90% of Outback an Forester driving soccer moms and dads have no clue who Petter Solberg or Colin McRae are nor do they have any notion of the rally pedigree of their cars. Subaru hasn't used their WRC heritage for commercial success for years. Its only the hardcore group that pay any attention to it.

Notice how when Mitsu pulled out of WRC nothing really bad came of it. They still sell loads of Evos and keep making faster and faster models.

As much as I love WRC, I'd rather see Subaru pull out than go broke.

You know, when I was watching old Top Gear episodes, they showed this almost cheap type of rally in Finland with cars that can only cost 1000 pounds. That might save Subie some money :p.

Subaru has been taking a beating in WRC in recent years hasn't it?

I'll admit that I haven't been following the series though.

Yes, they haven't been doing well in recent years but I don't see the fan base shrinking any. Rally in the US is becoming more popular as well.

lol, it is a rumor and an untrue one at that. THey just built a new car and signed new drivers. Subaru has based a massive amount of advertising on their Rally experience.

I severely doubt this will happen -- seeing as the design of the ugly new STI hatch was pretty much only so they could become competitive again.

Its just that people -- a rumor

Maybe one shock, and I have my doubts about that.

Really? I've been watching them backwards until season 8, which when I finished that, I started season 1. I thought I saw that in Season 9 or 10 . My bad!

I wouldn't think most Subarus are sold in the US.

I loved that episode...and I LOVED that concept. I'd love to see something like that implemented here in the States...does anyone know of such a racing group?
