According to this article in Daily Tech, Realtek has been lying about it's codec supporting EAX and EAX2--it's just passing the signal without the audible positioning clues. Translation, if you're a gamer playing an EAX game with a Realtek audio solution, you're not getting the full audio presentation.
Oh, and to make matters worse, because Realtek's audio solutions aren't expending the CPU processing cycles needed to fully render EAX and EAX2, motherboards utilizing Realtek audio solutions have an unfair advantage in performance tests against other motherboards using different audio solutions.
Makes me glad I use a Creative soundcard.
