The Cell processor is to be the "CPU" of the PS3, not the GPU. Sony still plans on using its Cell technology...which could either make or break this part.

Microsoft is going down the much more "tried and true" path by using a PowerPC processor as the CPU for Xbox Next.

originally sony claimed that the cell processor would collect power from other household units with cell processors in them. laugh. GG sony.

exactly, the only thing is, there are many games that are cross-platform and look/play better on one console rather than another

The big reason why ATI has so few chips to sell to gamers right now. Massive console vs Niche gamer market? Who would you cater to? Getting X850s out or preparing for the MASS of people that are going to buy the Xenon and GC2?
