You can find the original post here:

http://killzone.ng-gamer.nl/forum/topic.php?id=3048

to make it short, a sony exec was interviewed on some G4 techtv show and more or less he said this:

"Killzone 2 was running on an all in-game engine, all in real time on the ps3, but the animations were pre-rendered"

So basically, it's like an in-game cutscene...don't believe this? check out that forum post and theres a link to the exact footage of that show in which the sony exec states that.

This is sweet...enjoy...

I don't see how this was hard to believe by people. The UT game was pre-animated but was real-time rendered, looked just as good if not better than Killzone...

But the UT2007 demo didn't show a large outdoor area with so many things happening at once.

Exactly. The Killzone trailer was hard to believe because of the tons of HIGHLY detailed characters running around, stuff blowing up, vehicles all over the place, and what appeared to be tons of AI with the NPCs shouting commands and handing over their weapons.

It's hard to believe because you nor any of us have seen something like this in a game before.

UT did show a MASSIVE outdoor environment at the end, actually. But forget that, I'll use a different example. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Huge outdoor environment, explosions, vehicles, the whole sha-bang. It was in-game footage too!

Its still lame that they damatize it with the lame animations. Just because ingame footage doesn't look as glorious. You could tell that what they showed wasn't what the game play was exactly going to be like but games on the new consoles will end up looking similar to that.
