Confirmed: GooGone is best HS cleaner

FYI,
I tried both 91% isopropyl alcohol and GooGone to clean the Intel stock HS before applying AS3.

91% isopropyl, $1.99, is not too good. It does not dissolve the sticky stuff left behind after I removed
the black thermal pad. And as I try to remove the sticky stuff, it smears all over the HS, annoying.

Then I bought the GooGone, $3.99, and it cleans the sticky stuff real good. A couple of wipes and the HS
is silver clean. It works real well on AS3 residue as well.

Not sure that the GooGone has any oil base or not, but it does seems a tiny bit oily. To make sure, just dry off with some water and dish soap.

My 2c.

and then you removed hte soap + dish water with the isopropyl alcohol, right?
Let's hope so. ;) Otherwise we may see this in the FS/FT forum. Don't worry MeCalvin, not picking on you. Personally I thought your "findings" were valuable. I just couldn't resist the minor slip. Thanks!

Not good for you, however. Use it in a well-ventilated situation and try to avoid skin contact. It would be a good idea to wear eye protection too... eyes are hard to replace. ;) I haven't found a single online vendor who carries "Socket E" products.

<---- still running a dual-socket-E system :D

i've been using wd40 to get rid of any sticky stuff residue. works fine. i haven't used googone, but if you have wd40, might as well save a few dollars. just use some rubbing alcohol after to get rid of the oily surface.

I use .97 cent charcoal starter fluid. This stuff will cut through tar and actually leaves very little if any residue. I then use alcohol just in case. :)
