how many attacks happened before 9/11? Were there more or less as compared to after 9/11?

That's a good question in addition to the question I asked. I don't know the answers hence the reasons I don't make any claims for or against it in relation to its effectiveness, I'm merely repeating what I've heard.

There's more.

Shoe bomber

Underwear bomber

Times Square bomber

Hassan/Fort Hood shooting

Boston Marathon bomber

BTW: None of the above was stopped by the NSA etc; they were all stopped by ordinary citizens who noticed them and took action.

So your conclusion is what?

I know where I stand on this issue and have stated as such in another thread. Where do you stand?

Work on your reading comprehension. Go back to my first post, and you will realize this does not address my statement. You stated they can't catch everyone because they are only monitoring foreign communications. My post pointed out that they aren't just collecting foreign communications. You then responded with the necessity of collecting data on everyone. If you don't see how this response doesn't address my point, then I can't help you. Once you understand this deficiency, I'll continue this discussion.

Yeah you aren't getting it. I've repeated what they told us and then I explained how what they said and the reality of the situation don't mesh and I explained why it doesn't.

The fact that you think I'm justifying any of this tells me your reading comprehension skills are lacking.

The fact is; we cannot be 100% secure without giving 100% of our freedoms up. No one of course is advocating that so the question becomes; how much of your freedoms are you willing to give up to feel relatively safe?

I'm not willing to give up any freedoms. As has been pointed out already, terrorist attacks will happen no matter what unless you give up 100% of your freedoms. There are those that ask, "how much security can I get if I give up X?". To them I say it's a pointless question, once you trade freedoms for safety you will get neither.

Can you stop and think for a minute. Just sto

If you believe the NSA. And you do. Then illegally gathering all American's data is not going to proactivity stop anything.

Why? Just ask the NSA.

The say they don't use the data until the have cause to.

If they have cause then they could get a warrant for a specific purpose.

And then they don't need all that data.

So the conclusions from what the NSA is telling us is simple. They are either not stopping anything. OR they are spying on every American.

Since they claim they are stopping terrorism. Then the only conclusion is they are proactively spying on every American.

Which would then mean they are violating the 4th amendment, and they need to stop.

Did you read what I wrote? Can you quote the part that goes against what you are saying.
