***Confirmed*** Chicago-land drivers suck

A few days ago I posted God dammit: Long distance relationships suck as do Chicago drivers. The thread, if you have not read it, is about my girlfriend getting in a car accident.

Well on Friday, my sister drove up to Chicago and picked up my girlfriend to bring her back to Lafayette. Today I was to drive her back to Chicago. While driving on 80/94 just before the 80/94 split traffic became heavy. At one point I had to suddenly stop to avoid hitting the car in front of me.

Turns out the guy behind me didn't have time to stop and rear ended us at over 50mph. The passenger of his car broke either her wrist or arm, and he was all right. My girlfriend had just started recovering from the previous accident and now her condition is worse so she is going to the ER in the morning. As for me, my left wrist is killing me (I grabbed the steering wheel prior to impact), my neck and upper back feel like they are on fire, and my right arm is cut up pretty badly.

Damn man! That's aweful! 🙁

Driving is scary.. I would probably go apesh!t if my girlfriend got hurt, especially if I was at the wheel..

Assholes. :|

I hope you guys are ok..

man that sucks. sounds like you should go to the ER yourself.

Will go in the morning depending on how I feel. Not being insured sucks as well so I hope they don't require some sort of upfront payment.

it was the others guys fault, right so his insurance should cover it.

And im from chicago and i moved to the San Fransisco bay area, you think the people out there suck, you've never had to deal with heards of asian drivers doing 10 under the limit.

That sucks biggime. Gad you are basicly alright. Chicago drivers do suck.

Call your insurance company and let them know you are going, and ask them what you need to take, and what you should do. Obviously the other insurance will be paying for it, but only talk to YOUR insurance company. That's what you pay them for.

well at least you two are mostly ok...could be a lot worse I guess, but still sucks. Wishing a speedy recovery

And I thought semi-trucks going over 70MPH on the highways here in the Twin Cities was bad. The way the world is going today, the guy who smashed into you will probably sue you. Hope everyone recovers quickly and (mostly) painlessly.

Doubtful since he was ticketed and I was not.

holy bad luck for you and your girlfriend lately - stay away from Vegas! Keep your head up though (if you can) - things will get better.

Just got back from the ER. Turns out I am suffering from whiplash and the doctor prescribed three pills: anti-inflamatory, muscle relaxant, and a pain killer. My girlfriend was at the ER this morning as well and she has muscle damage. Can't work for three days per doctors orders.

Sorry to hear that, Minendo.

Here's to a speedy recovery!

Who's car was it this time? I'm hoping the guy that hit you was insured. My mother-in-law got hit in Chicago, and the guy had no insurance. It was hell getting her insurance company to pay.

Jeebus! Remind me never to visit Chicago unless I'm driving a tank. :Q

Glad to hear everyone involved is still breathing.

We were in my Stealth. They guy driving was in a Daewoo and was insured. He was young (~18).

glad you OK

got any PICS?

Took a few pics of the backend, but the bumper cover held up. It is missing a lot of paint, but that is about it. All the damage is hidden by the cover and I hadn't noticed it until I got under the car to tie the license plate back on. Had to tie it on since it flew off during the accident and I needed it on to legally drive.

Should have pics available tomorrow.
