Configuring Linux Mint desktop appearance (no icons)

I know how to enable the option to hide the desktop icons, but I want to do that AND place them on the taskbar. I've been doing this in Windows 7/10 for many a great years but it seems that option has flown the Microsoft coup and I wish to devoid myself of those asshats. So, how can I pin the desktop icons to the taskbar in Linux Mint whilest also hiding their desktop appearance?

PS I cannot believe that Microsoft in their infinate lack of wisdom not only removed the 'Desktop' toolbar, but also remove the Quick Access toolbar as well. It is like they are trying to be less useful to you.

Explanation: My autism demands a clean desktop. I like having a black void on the screen unless I have an app of system widget open.

Search for the app and right click to pin or open the app and right click the icon while open and pin. At least that's how it works in Ubuntu.

They are not apps. They were text files (moved them from Desktop folder to Documents folder) and a mounted external drive icon. The drive icon cannot be pinned AFAIK.

You can right click on the folder, or drive and choose add to favorites which will pin it to your start menu. If you're on mint, you should have an applet on your bottom panel for favorites which you can click to see your favorites. If it's not there, right click on your panel (taskbar) and click applets. Add the Favorites applet, and you're done.
That's the only work around I know of ;)
