Configuring HTTP and FTP server using IIS in XP Pro

My internet connection comes from the cable into a Win98 system running ICS.
The Win98 system splits the connection to my computer (XP) and my moms computer

The net connection works fine and I've got IIS installed on my XP system. I guess the problem is that ICS is configured to not let outside traffic get into the computer.

How to I set the Win98 system to allow outside computers to access port 21 and 80 on my XP system? (My XP system has an internal IP of 192.168.0.8)

you may want to check and see if ICS on Windows 98 supports port forwarding (I know the version of it that comes with 2K and XP does, look in the advanced properties). If that's the case than forward the port 80 + 21 traffic to your XP Pro. box. If Windows 98 ICS does not support port forwarding than you could either run a differant ICS type software on your Windows 98 install or you could consider a differant OS for that box (XP, Linux, etc.)

Win98 ICS does do port forwarding, I don't remember how to do it. I know there is a 3rd-party tool, but I forget its name 😉.
