Configuring a VPN server in Windows 10 - Where am I going wrong here?

I know this is an old thread but I am having a similar problem.
Have set everything up as all have described here and have checked that the PC is listening on port 1723 but still get no joy trying to connect.
I have other port forwards working fine to the same PC on different ports and have temporarily disabled windows firewall to rule that out, am at a complete loss.
Netstat -a shows listening on TCP 0.0.0.0:1723
I am trying to connect from a Nexus 6p
Any words of wisdom?

Ports aren't just forwarded on that computer's own firewall, but in the settings your modem/router -- right?

Alright so I got the vpn server working by restarting the Routing and remote access service.
Now I can connect, but there is no internet connection.
on the Remote machine's VPN connection properties (Windows 10 as well) I unchecked the "Use default gateway on remote network" and now my ip is as before which means I am not using remote machine's internet.
But If I enable using the Remote gateway I get no internet connection because Maybe my public IP is not allowed to use the default gateway (Tp link router) as a gateway?
I also disabled the ipv6 protocol on both ends as I don't need it.
I also checked the Allow Remote user to connect to my local network box, still no luck.
Can anyone help me out here?

I also enabled TCP/IP Forwarding on Remote machine no luck yet.
And I am not sure how to make the static route.
Both PC's are behind Routers and both have VPN pass through on.
Can you guide me on how to make the static route?
Let's say the VPN server pc these configs on ethernet adapter:

Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Local IP: 192.168.0.9
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Pub IP: 103.xx.xx.xx

[VPN Server Config]
Allow VPN user to connect to my local network=yes
Static IP Range: 10.1.1.200-10.1.1.202

[Client Machine Ethernet config]
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Local IP: 192.168.1.100
Pub IP: 27.xx.xx.xx
Mask: 255.255.255.0

Tried Using the Use remote gateway option = internet doesn't work

Tried not using remote gateway and static routes.
These are the possible routes I came up with as I don't have any idea on how it works.

I'm pretty sure the iOS removed support for pptp last year (v10?). I had to search for a different kind of VPN for a client whose doctors used not only laptops but iPhones. Settled on SoftEther VPN with the openvpn clone and its been working marvelously and I can set up a fresh new server in literally five minutes. Much more secure than PPTP to boot, check it out.

Using Softether VPN Server/ Client as well. Easiest VPN ever. You need an always on PC as host though. You get free DDNS xxx.softether.net as VPN host name. No registration required. Change host name anytime as long as no one using it.

Highly recommended.
