Hi Geeks,
I am about to build a R210 server from scratch and i am wondering if anyone could help me with the setup. I have to configure Raid 1 and then install the OS.
I have little experience configuring Raid. Pls enlighten me on how to accomplish the task on the R210 and then carry on with the OS installation.

By "build" I assume you mean "configure BIOS and install OS". Configuring RAID will depend on what exact hardware you have in the machine. Please post your system config.

when you boot up you should see something that says hit CTRL + S (or some other letter) to access PERC BIOS.

Once in there it should be mostly straight forward - there will be a section to add. I believe you use the space bar to select the drives you want, then F10, it will then ask you for the configuration settings (ie: what RAID type). Set the RAID type and F10 again. You then will need to initialize the RAID you configured.

Once done configuring the RAID reboot and install the OS - Windows should recognize the PERC controller and have the driver for it, but if it doesn't you may need to download the PERC driver and put it on a floppy and manually load it. But if it recognizes it you would install just like on a 'regular' hard drive.

I believe it's CTRL+R, but yeah it prompts you after the first screen with the Dell logo and progress bar. OP, you didn't specify exactly what kinds and how many of each kind of drive you have, so I can't give you any more detailed info than what talion has given.

Server 2K3 is really old, so I don't think that it would have a driver for a new controller like the H200. If you get lucky there will be a generic SCSI driver that you can use to load the OS.
