I have an e2000 in the basement as my router I want to configure the Asus Rt-n66u as a wired access point. Do I need to put a 3rd party firmware on it or can I connect LAN to LAN? My ip is 192.168.1.1 so the rt-n66u should be set to 192.168.1.2 correct?

In order to work as an AP there is no need to switch firmware.

Using a Wireless Cable/DSL Router as a Switch with an Access Point - http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html

Yeah, if your main Router ip is 192.168.1.1 the rt-n66u should be set to 192.168.1.2
