Alright, I've given up thinking about a optiplex model. I have a client who looking to build a box just for gaming, and need some suggestions.

Been out of the gaming loop for a while now and need help bulding a comp. This system will not be overclocked or tweaked at all. I just need reliable parts and a good warranty if possible. He has given me the go ahead on a 9800GTX, I just need the rest.

I already have BFG or XFX picked for the 9800GTX because of the good replacement warranty they have.

Price range should be around $600 for the cpu, mobo, memory, hard drive, dvdrw and case. Video is seperate.

Heres what I have so far. Lemme know.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6550
Mobo: DFI BLOODIRON (INFINITY) P35-T2RL
Case: Black CoolerMaster CM 690
PSU: Black OCZ StealthXStream 600W
Mem: Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2
Video: BFG GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB
HD: Seagate 160gb sata
DVD: Anything NEC or Samsung

These would be my recommended changes..

E8400 CPU
P182 Case
Roll the dice on a WD3200AAKS and hope you get the single platter version. (i did)
500W Antec Earthwatts. 500 watts is plenty sufficient for this setup especially since you're not overclocking.

I have the 500w earthwatts.
My system specs:

E8400
4GB's RAM
150GB Raptor
8800GT Factory overclocked
Multi-card reader
Plus all the other standard things. My system draws about 268 watts at peak according to the display on my UPS. Thats including my 19" CRT.

No point in building with a e6000 series cpu anymore, e8400 is a good performance/price point if you are not overclocking (good point for overclocking as well).
If you aren't overclocking, even an Earthwatts 380W will be plenty and there's a rebate on it right now. The only problem with Earthwatts is they only use a 80mm fan, which can be problematic if the case is too warm, that's why I recommend any of the Corsairs, which lately seem to have rebates constantly and can be had for cheaper from buy.com than newegg. Also, the modular ones (with HX suffix) aren't much more than the non-modular ones and are some of the best power supplies on the market.
