config. for toshiba DVD and Lite On burner

hello,

i just got a toshiba 16x DVD drive and a Lite On 16/10/40 burner.

does anyone know what configuration/setup that will give me the best overall performance?

i hear it's not such a good idea to have both DVD and burner on same channel.
also have to hard drives.

How many IDE controllers do you have?

If you only have (2), then put the CDRW and DVD on the same channel. You will still be able to burn on-the-fly. If you have (4) IDE channels, pu them on their own channel.
