I usually condition laptop and cell phone batteries that have a Li-Ion chemistry. My girlfriend just gave me a iPod mini for my birthday (gosh, I love her! :D) and I'm wondering if I should condition it as well? It seems like it's a Li-Ion battery as well.

What I normally do is for the first charge, completely charge it for 12-24 hours. Completely drain it then completely recharge it. I do this 2-3 times.

Do you guys think it's necessary for maximum battery life? I want to play with my new toy ;)

P.S. I have completely charged it for 6 hours already.

Dude thanks for that link. Very helpful for me and a few of my friends that had some misconceptions.

No problem. IMHO lithium is damn stupid for such an expensive MP3 player unless it is backed up with a longer warranty just for the battery.
