WASHINGTON --Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the highest-ranking black woman in government history, said Friday the racist, sexist comments that got radio shock jock Don Imus fired were "disgusting."

In her first public remarks on the controversy, Rice said Imus had insulted not only female athletes but all young black women by referring to the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy headed hos."



wtf? Where the h*ll has she been? Talk about waiting til the last minute. If she had something to say, why didn't she say it when it happened? Or when Imus apologized to the team? Or when Imus was fired?
I just think its a sad commentary on Condi Rice. She has practically disappeared as Secretary of State, then she waits til the incident is over before deciding to add her comments?
More on Condi in a later post. Now that I know she is still alive and Secretary of State I'm going to see what she has been up to.

Probably for the same reason no one else spoke up about it until CNN et al reported on it. Because its not an issue until the media thinks it is. Ever listen to Opie and Anthony? How about Tom Lykis? Same with Imus. His demographics dictate what he says. His listeners didnt seem to mind (for the most part). In other words, the reason she didnt react, or Hillary, or whoever, it's because they dont listen to his show.

When it comes to females---I think Kindasleezy Rice is perhaps the most disgusted female in human history. Her remarks that the aluminum tubes could only be used for uranium enrichment was a whopper of almost unprecedented and far ranging magnitude---she lied us into a war that will probably result in a million deaths by the time its finished.

Imus may qualify for disgusting---and he has apologized---but just how many lives did Imus's big fat mouth cause to be lost?

I don't know about you all---but I do like to have objective measures to gage the wide spectrum of disgusting.

I agree, she is a disgusting whore to Bush, almost as bad as Colin Powell. At least Rice has been consistent in her adherence to the Neo-Con agenda through the years. But she has no standing as a voice of any morality.

I am no Colin Powell fan---but I see him as a man of ability and some honesty---a consummate organization man with some human decency. And a man whose integrity was used and then abused by GWB&co.--and then spit out because one good apple could spoil a barrel of rotten ones. Compared to others in the GWB&co. admins 1&2, Powell shines by comparison----and IMHO, to even implie Powell is even worse than Rice is a hard sell for me. After all, when Powell did find out he was lied to---he apologized publically.

About the only thing they complain about more are the democratically-elected socialists of South America.

Condi isn't up to the job . . . then again who would if your country's foreign policy can be summed up with, "you are either with us or with the terrorists" and "shock and awe" and "Geneva Conventions are quaint". None of those pronouncements came from State.

I understand your angle on this situation. I believe he is a victim of his own great loyalty, in this case to Bush 41 who he so faithfully served. He then extended the courtesy to the son, and screwed himself because of it.

But remember that Powell was a four star general. Surely he must have realized the childish coloring book garbage he spewed at the UN in his presentation was an embarrassment to himself and the nation. Many of the claims made in that presentation were refuted the same or next day by not only Iraq, but by friendly nations such as Britain which immediately shot down (pun intended) the "artillery balloon trucks cum mobile weapons labs."

That presentation was the Bush administration's last great pre-war justification for the war, albeit when the troops were already assembled and there was no doubt we would invade. Powell had to have known the BS he was spewing, yet he prostituted himself in the Security Council chamber out of a sense of duty.

He may have been lied to but there is no excuse for that to have happened. He was a retired general and serving as Secretary of State. He was in a need to know position to accurately discuss an American invasion of a foreign sovereign nation. And he didn't question laughable information given to him by Richard Perle or some other goon? By his own accounts he did question a lot of the stuff they told him to present. I can only imagine the pure fantasy "Team B" crap they tried to pass off to him as credible.
