So, I beat the game early this morning before leaving for work. Whew, damn! I would like to say that this is possibily the scariest game I've ever played (neck-and-neck with Fatal Frame). I mean, there were times I was looking over my should at night, freaked out, because one of our cats walked into the room. I can seriously think of 4 seperate occasions where I jumped! Not twitched, but litterally jumped in my chair lifting up my mouse up off the desk. What a fantastic game. From what I understand, the game was developed sort of parallel to F.E.A.R., and I can see some (what seems) borrowed concepts -but this game surpassed F.E.A.R. in ever single way. Yea, it was a bit short, but I'm ok with it.

Get. This. Game.

I am really enjoying the game. Just barely into it right now, but definintely creepy. FEAR creeped me out a few times, but the AI on the enemies in this one is, well almost human. Nothing like fighting a junkie with a pipe in front of you, just to get a board full of bolts embedded in your skull from behind by a junkie that was hiding and waiting for you to turn your back. Fast mothers too.

I am also enjoying it. I'm up to the St. Joseph's School level. The graphics are really great for the environments though the characters are the usual plastic looking type but thats ok. The sound is just excellent. I do wish the fighting was more complex, maybe with some weapon specific combos, parts getting chopped off...etc...maybe a sequel could fix that up??

Fighting tip...after smacking someone with a board/pipe/axe or whatever, kick them (melee). Doing that stops any counter they may have made directly after you hit them.

When you get to the later levels, they'll actually feint instead of attacking to get you to block, then smack you when your block ends. Tough mothers.

The last...um..."move" you do against the final boss is ridiculous. I actually felt my jaw flinch when it happened.

You get it after you complete the first portion of the main quest iirc.

To further my hijacking, which portion? I am in the town, following some guy around trying to see if they are selling stolen goods. Thanks,

To further my hijacking

*interrupts mid-sentence with 2x4 - Bolts to the face*

Take it to the official Oblivion thread, or else.

*exchanges weapon for Rebar - Concrete*

This game is going to be my next purchase. It has gotten some great reviews and they all said it was scarier then FEAR

I played through all but the very end of Condemned in one rental for my XBox 360. It really is a great, terrifying game IMO.

How's Condemned running for all of you? I have quite a few hiccups here and there.

I have a 7900GT OCed to 625/1700. 1GB RAM, 3200+ OCed to 2500mhz. Settings are max everything at 1280x1024 except 2x/8x (AA, AF), no soft shadows.
Maybe I should lower my OC even more, even though it seems to be fine in 3dmark and whatnot (~10100 in 3dmark05).

It's running great over here. I'm guessing it's your RAM.

I just got this game the other day. I'm not too far into it but it's pretty cool so far. Does it ever get light or am I going to have to use the weak flashlight the entire game?

Finished the game last night.

Overall I would say it's a very good game. Definitely scary.

Environments and level design were mixed some good some not so good. Weapons and combat were interesting. Your weapons run out of ammo and there's no way to replenish it, you just have to pick up a new weapon. The 90% of the game is dark, your flashlight is used almost all the time. Voice acting was well done overall but there were some time times that the lead character had very little emotion in his dialog.

The game was rock solid for me, no crashes, no bugs.

I didn't even know this was out for PC. :(

Played it some on my friend's XBox 360, thought it was okay, guess I should look into it more now, though. Would you say better or worse than FEAR?

I liked it about the same as FEAR. FEAR seemed like it was a little longer. The environments were a little more varied in Condemned then I recall from FEAR. Condemned was definitely scarier. I jumped a lot more in Condemned. But both are equally creepy.

Both have repetative enemies, but the AI is decent in both games. Condemned has melee combat where FEAR was mostly guns or the butt of a gun occasionally.
