Condemned: Criminal Origins

I just finished this game and I give this game a thumbs up.

The gameplay is mediocre and the melee fighting got old in the middle, but the story, suspense, and scary moments got me going.

I haven't played many horror games, but this one ranks up there with the best of 'em. Not having a gun and having to walk instead of run adds to the suspense.

My only gripe is that they didn't complete the story. At least in FEAR, you could sort of come to some conclusions, but I'm befuddled with this game.



I hear if you unlock some birds, metal objects... more of the story is told, but I don't want to redo the game just for that. If someone found everything, is there more story that's worth it?

Or are there some hacks that unlock this stuff?

i thought it was decent for a launch title. overall though i thought it was pretty lame.

the forensic stuff was a completely joke and waste of time.

it was way too linear for my likings, in the sense they basically spoon fed you which way to go, and i'm not big on games where you have 5 doors in a room, but only 1 door has the "press A" icon to open door over it while nothing happens when you walk up to the other doors.

i agree the combat got old, real quick. also the scary moments were just cheap scares where they made some loud sound or did something to try and make you jump. i never really thought it was truly freaky/scary.

i also hated the last level where you could see like 6 inches infront of you, and the whole supernatural thing happening later on in the game really turned me off.

it was cool to play through as a launch title IMO but other than that I wasn't very big on it.

I totally get that the gamehad some oh-so-easy game mechanics (forensics stuff) and that the combat wasnt the most varied--but I'm a real sucker for horror games that get the atmosphere right, so it's really easy for me to forgive some of the faults. It's been a while since I've played the game so the details are fuzzy--but I do remember thinking that the game was much more enjoyable than it's brother (FEAR). Awesome game and looking forward to the sequel.

I enjoyed Condemned quite a bit, and look forward to the sequel. Hopefully it stays mostly grounded in reality though... I hated the supernatural twists (and that ending)
