This is what it all boils down to. I know alot of the establishment republicans are backing him because all they want to do is win, but true conservative republicans should not have been insulted this way. There is no candidate worse when it comes to convenience and pandering, not even Hillary. Though all candidates pander, Romney has left everybody absolutely confused as to how he would govern the nation. Will he govern as he governed in Mass? Or is he an honest convert?

Above all, we need honesty and integrity. Yet another reason why I think Paul is by far the best choice.

If Romney were elected President and fully supported his new "convictions" would he be demonstrating honesty & integrity?

I think so. The real question is do Repub voters trust that he will not flip flop back to the old Romney?

But otherwise, this is a very harsh hit piece by the newspaper. I sense that they are angry he has moved further to the right since his days as govenor. I.e., they don't like his new conservative policies. I suspect that they believe he WON'T flip flop back to the liberal stance. I.e., they trust him.

I'm not sure why the animosity to Romney. They say:

If you followed only his tenure as governor of Massachusetts, you might imagine Romney as a pragmatic moderate with liberal positions on numerous social issues and an ability to work well with Democrats. If you followed only his campaign for president, you'd swear he was a red-meat conservative, pandering to the religious right, whatever the cost. Pay attention to both, and you're left to wonder if there's anything at all at his core.

In other words, a Repub candidate moves to the right during a primary. What's new or unexpected about that?

Who can honestly say they know what Romney would do? Every time I see that idiot speak he spews non-answers. If I wanted a haircut with a tan for president I'd vote for George Hamilton. He's far more qualified under those criteria.

That's the point, his pandering is completely off the scales, as is his flip flopping. Besides, you think his conversion, immediately before a presidential election, is genuine? Take mccain for example. He wont bother with iowa because he's flatly said ethanol subsidies are bad. Giuliani has pandered a bit but he's said, "we disagree on some things but we agree on most things" to the repub base.

Romney on the other hand? He doesn't even serve red meat, he provides fresh blood.
