Concerns with SSD installation

I installed the Echo cloning software on my 60gb vertex ssd and then installed my plextor m3 128gb ssd. Proceeded with attempting to clone my ocz stuff to the plextor, pc rebooted and I got some kind of error saying the pata device was already registered or in use.

So I reboot, change booting options to boot from the plextor and got the same error. Rebooted, changed my ssd settings back to IDE, booted with my ocz ssd and was able to see the plextor with 119gb in windows.

I decided to install windows on the plextor and try booting from it and I would get the same error.

However, now, when I change my boot settings to the ocz, and boot from it, windows sees both the ocz and plextor in My Computer, but the plextor is my C drive, and it shows the little windows logo on it (I'm assuming that means the location of where windows is booting from) the ocz as D drive. WTH is going on? Honestly everything appears to be running fine. Just kind of weird that BIOS has the ocz as 1st boot priority, but when I log in, the plextor is the C drive.

Oh I guess I should mention that I did a sanitary erase on my ocz drive just to make sure my pc wasn't booting from it, even though in BIOS it still shows that the OCZ drive is the 1st boot priority.

What happens when you try booting with only the Plextor as the only active drive in the system? (Pull power connection to all other drives). That may help diagnose what's going on.

"...I got some kind of error saying the pata device was already registered or in use."

What is PATA doing in the message? Are you using AHCI? SSDs are SATA, not PATA.

I thought about trying this last night but I was too tired to gave up for the night. I'll try it tonight and post back.

I have no idea. That's why I was confused. I don't have any pata devices and my mobo only supports SATAs, no IDE ports. I was using AHCI during install.

I was able to get my drives configured properly. I unplugged any other drives and devices except for the minimum, formatted the plextor and reinstalled windows. Now it's booting from the proper drive and working properly. Thanks.
