Dear All:
I had an old Athlon 64 laying around and, on a lark, wanted to convert it into a keyring. More specifically, I wanted to convert the IHS into a keyring as the chip proper was slightly larger and, more importantly, had sharper edges.
Not realizing that I could remove the IHS with a simple razor blade, I cooked it in my oven for about 1/2 hour and then removed the IHS. From an aesthetic standpoint, I don't have any concerns. Rather my concern is that my cooking the chip might have released harmful fumes into the air. Specifically, the cooking produced a slight odor and I'm concerned it might be harmful. Moreover, might the cooking process have 'contaminated' the IHS such that my carrying it around with me might not be a prudent idea.
To the extent it makes a difference, I set the oven to around 450F.
Thank you, in advance, for any insight you all might be able to provide. I also apologize for the odd nature of my inquiry and my seeming paranoi -- I would rather ask silly questions and be more safe than sorry.
Thanks again.
Regards,
