"Senate Democrats, warning of a serious abuse of privacy rights, said Thursday they will try to shut down programs aimed at helping to identify potential domestic terrorists by amassing database information about people's lives. " Story is in link.

Senate Democrats try to stop Pentagon data-mining project

Uh, does anyone else find this a bit disturbing? Perhaps a letter to your congressman is in order, before you lose ALL your privacy. Read the entire article to see what I mean.

All these new stupid laws do more to invade our privacy than to protect us. All those patriot acts, for example. It's disturbing especially since so much money is blown on this.

Isn't everything about you in various databases, already? The only difference would be if the government was able to merge all that info into one super-database. Sucha database would be so big I don't think it would be of much use.

That is precisely what they want to do. And computers can digest and serve up everything about you in short order. Just look at a google search engine.

It is the Patriot Act that gives them this power. Just think, one database and you and me and every citizen has a record number in that database. George Orwell 1984, just a little later.

This is damn disturbing. And very dangerous. :disgust:
