Concerned about my temps.. help?

Alright.. here's my idle temps, according to Everest:

Motherboard 38 °C (100 °F)
CPU 31 °C (88 °F)
GPU 62 °C (144 °F)
GPU Ambient 44 °C (111 °F)
SAMSUNG SP1614N 31 °C (88 °F)

My CPU temp seems okay to me, but I'm extremely worried about the temp on my 6800GT.

Would replacing the stock 80mm fans that came with my case improve the temp on my 6800GT? Or should I look into a VGA cooler.. and if I get a VGA cooler, which offers the best performance? Currently, the loudest thing in my case is the 6800GT (before I got the 6800GT my computer was much quieter and it didn't bother me at all, but the loudness now kinda gets to me).

6800 GT cards do run hot, their designed with that in mind, 64 C at idle is about normal for that card and under load can get upwards of 85 C. If you decide to go with aftermarket cooling then your best bet is going to be either the Zalman VF-700 or VF-900 GPU coolers.

ahh, alright. I was just playing eq2 for a bit (bored..) and watching the temp icon in the system tray, it hit about 80 C max, but stayed around 75-76 C for the most part.

thanks

I think the temps are OK, but the stock coolers are noisy. I think your best bet would be the Zalman VF700-ALCU, as it is cheap (about $27) easy to install, and quiet.

The Arctic Cooler Silencers can be tricky to install (from what I have read) due to the memory and the GPU may or may not exactly be level with each other and you might have to resort to lapping to get an exact fit. Otherwise awesome coolers.

I own a Thermalright V-1, which is great, but also uses a low-profile 80mm fan that is a bit more noisy than I would like. I now wish I had bought the Zalman instead. Not a big deal, as I will probably upgrade to a new card sometime soon anyway.

The new Zalman VF900 also looks interesting, but is also closer to $50.

NV5 Rev 3 is very easy to install. Make sure you screw the 4 things on the back tight enough and you should have decent temps.

I've heard a lot about the accelero also.. mainly that it's very quiet. Does anyone here have any experience with it?

I'll look into them when it slows down a bit at work. The VF900 at $50 is more than I'm willing to spend, unless it's leagues better than the VF700 or others options at that price ($30).

Forgot about the new Accelero X1, have read some real positive reviews though. I thought they were for just the newer 7800/7900 series cards, but the 6800 series is listed as well. Worth checking out. The reviews stated that installation was very easy and painless. A bit more than the VF700, but still about $40.
