Since the cards were announced, the 6800 line, I've been extremely confused on which one does what. Basically I have no preferance to Nvidia or ATI. I couldn't care less. But what has been really bothering me is that the 6800 Ultra doesnt seem to have any Analog video support! Heres a pic to describe what I mean.
Geforce 6800 Ultra
There are two DVO ports, and a TV-Out. Thats it.

However on the 6800GT, there is an analog connector.

If I was to buy the 6800Ultra, I would have to run an adaptor just to use it, which seems really silly to me because it would lose some of the image quality.

It seems really strange that Nvidia didn't include anaglog support to their latest and greatest card, and I hope I'm just seeing things.

The ATI X800XT
Has the angalog support and is a single slot solution....
I've also read that it consumes less power and therefore puts out less heat than the 9800xt.

So far im undecided but I would really like to confirm about the 6800Ultra

Ummmm....I'm pretty sure you don't lose quality with an adapter. It's a digital signal to begin with, how would it lose quality?

Using a DVI->HD15 adapter does not degrade image quality. All the same pins are in the DVI connector, they are just re-routed to go to the pins on the normal VGA connector (it's not doing a DAC).
If there is any loss of quality, it's not because of the DVI.

It comes with two DVI outs and an adaptor. This is great for people who have the cash to run two LCD's. The adaptor works fine for those who are running CRT's, so there is no need to include a VGA plug right off of the card.

As far as I know, the GT is a single slot solution as well. The Ultra takes up one PCI slot, but it really doesn't matter unless you own a "shuttle type" shoebox PC.

Ok, thanks for the help. Much appreciated!

I'm get pretty frustrated at Nvidia's Site, I always have.
Anyway I hope they do release a analog connector 6800 and as for the adaptor, I guess I was mistaken. Thanks alot guys. Really helpful.

Ah right on!
That just made my choice between the ati and nvidia even closer.
They seem similar enough to me anways.

The single slot 6800u
After putting in X in the 1-slot checklist, I'm even more confused.
Since both cards are 499$ I just dunno... On every forum its 4:1 for Ati.
I'm just trying to get the best for my money.

Has anyone actually used either cards?
