Concensus seems to be a "high quality" Hedgehog, where to buy one vs. a low-quality version, or is it luck of the draw??

Title pretty much sums it up.... and i figure if i'm going to drop the cash on a 'hog, might as well be a good one. Or is it pretty much a hit-n-miss kinda deal, in which where i buy one doesn't really matter, it's just luck of the draw whether i get a good one or a lousy one?

I think it's luck of the draw. The difference is in how well the fins mate with the base. With some hedgehogs, there are pretty big gaps between the fins and the base which isn't conducive to heat transfer. Also, the base usually needs to be lapped.
