concealing a folder in winxp

hows that i conceal a folder in winxp without using any additional softwares. do not mention the idea that right click -> properties -> highlight hidden. i would prefer an answer like saying that if you double click or single click on say folder1 you get directed to the recycle bin or something else at the same time i (the user "me") should be able to access it

Can't you use security settings so that other (non-admin) users cannot access that folder? "Hiding" it is unlikely to really keep anyone determined out.

Yeah I agree with Matthias hiding it isn't going to do any good. The only way I can even vaguely think of doing something like that is if it was a network share on a windows 2000 server box. Just use the security tab.

TrueCrypt is a good solution. It creates a virtual encrypted disk and you store your sensitive files in that virtual disk -- hidden from everyone unless you mount said virtual disk with TrueCrypt. The virtual disk is just a file, and you can give it any name you want (like c:\pornfil... I mean... c:\swapfile.sys) so you can hide it pretty well. And since the virtual disk is just a file, you can copy them to CD/DVD, so you can securly archive without fear of someone accidentally stumbling onto your donkey pr0n.

And the price is right. Free.
