The main article in Computerworld magazine, Oct. 25, 2005 edition is "The New Normal?", talking about raises across the board for IT only being enough to compensate for cost of living increases. On the flipside, the average stress level is also down some, although I'm sure a lot of that has to do with a huge cut in IT budget expenses (less to do).

One thing that surprised me in this article is that even though raises are down, bonuses are up. Who is getting these bonuses? - I'm certainly not. There is a little sub-topic in the paper edition talking about Chief Security Officers getting the biggest raises - 6%- but the overall pay is also not high.
